The Audi brand is built on 3 cornerstones — sporty, sophisticated and progressive. These 3 pillars have governed this German automotive powerhouse like clockwork, with them one-upping themselves against their models time and time again. This constant pushing of boundaries is why we keep falling in love with their rides.
And when we got our hands on their latest RS Q3 Sportback in Kyalami Green – first ever , we saw how sportiness, sophistication and progressiveness come together in 1 neat package.
This compact high-performance SUV houses a powerful 2.5-litre TFSI engine in combination with quattro all-wheel drive, pushing out 480 horses and 48kg of torque to send you on a sprint to 100kmh in 4.1 seconds. Mind you, this is an SUV, not a lightweight street fighter. That’s the sporty part.
Once you’re seated within, the RS sports seat wraps you in fine Nappa leather with honeycomb stitching that comes with an integrated headrest. You look up and see the standard MMI navigation plus with MMI touch display, geared towards you, where you’ll receive vehicle information and map display in full HD via the Audi virtual cockpit plus with a fully digital 12.3-inch instrument cluster. The additional RS layout is also reflected on the cockpit screen, for example, in the shift light indicator and enables displays such as g-meters or lap timers. Then, you grip the multi-functioning steering wheel and shift paddles that comes with carbon twill inlays. That’s sophistication.
What’s an SUV without space? Not a problem for this — fold the rear seat bench down and poof, you’ll have a whooping 1,525 litres of storage space. Progressive at its best.
With this ride, “live legendary”, truly.
