The Maserati brand is a much-maligned one. While she has her loyal fans, the general public tend to see her as a slower version, expensive cousin of the Ferrari. While she may have ‘borrowed’ parts from the prancing horse, Maserati has been a maker steeped in history and, more importantly, laurels. While it may be attainable only by a select few, it is certainly not slow. And, who doesn’t like to be ‘one of the exclusive ones’ to own one?
We took one out recently — a Maserati GranTurismo S. Decked in a full darker shade of military green, this assault machine shares its engine with the Alfa Romeo 8C Competizione, a V8 capable of pushing over 400 HP right out of the factory. Furthermore, mated to the engine is a 6-speed sequential semi-automatic transmission shared with the Ferrari F430 Scuderia. The Italian connection is definitely strong with this one!
But luxury is synonym with Maserati, and this ride is no different. Decked out in premium Alcantara, one can just feel it oozing with class in every nook and cranny.
